With the Miami Heat trailing the Cleveland Cavaliers 60–55 in the third quarter of Friday night’s game, Dwyane Wade helped close the gap with a one-handed dunk over Tristan Thompson.

Wade dribbled past Matthew Dellavedova before flying over Tristan Thompson and throwing down the dunk to shrink the Cavaliers’ lead to three points. It was a reminder that the 13-year NBA veteran can still dunk despite having missed time due to knee and hamstring injuries over the last few years.

Wade agreed to a one-year, $20 million contract to re-sign with the Heat during the off-season. Wade, 33, made his 11th All-Star Game last season, averaging 21.5 points, 4.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Thompson, who signed a five-year deal worth $82 million contract last week, redeemed himself with a block on Chris Bosh in the fourth quarter.

The Cavaliers pulled away early in the fourth quarter and wound up winning their home opener 102–92. LeBron James and Kevin Love combined for 53 points, 19 rebounds and nine assists. Wade scored a team-high 25 points for Miami.
