Watch: Celtics’ Jae Crowder banks in full-court shot on inbounds pass

If this shot counted, it would’ve gone down as one of the greatest in NBA history.

Instead, the ball went right back to the other team.

Boston Celtics forward Jae Crowder was inbounding the ball underneath the Pacers’ hoop when he launched a full-court pass. The pass ended up being off the mark. Instead of finding the hands of a teammate, it hit the backboard and went through the net. Because no Celtics player touched the ball before it went in, the shot didn’t count, and the Pacers got the ball back, but it makes for a great highlight nonetheless.

Crowder, a former second-round pick, is in his second season with Boston after a midseason trade from Dallas last year. He signed a five-year, $35 million deal this off-season. The former Marquette star is averaging 9.3 points, 2.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game in his fourth season as a pro.

The Celtics could’ve used the points—they lost to the Pacers 100–98. Crowder scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds for Boston while Paul George scored a team-high 27 in the victory.
