Clippers point guard Chris Paul missed Saturday night’s game against the Rockets with a groin injury. The team announced his absence before a 109–105 Houston win.

Paul was injured during Wednesday’s loss to Golden State and missed the final 13 seconds of that game as a result. Austin Rivers replaced him in the starting lineup and finished with 10 points on 4-for-12 shooting in 31 minutes. Houston, led by James Harden’s season-high 46 points, held on to win after a questionable goaltending no-call ended any chance of an L.A. comeback.

Paul was considered probable for Saturday’s game and head coach Doc Rivers did not initially think the injury was severe. It is unclear if the All-Star guard will have to miss multiple contests.

In five games this season, Paul is averaging 17 points, 8.2 assists, four rebounds and 1.6 steals.
