Heat guard Gerald Green ‘deeply saddened’ by punching incident
Miami Heat guard Gerald Green apologized Saturday for an incident in which he punched a man and was eventually taken to the hospital.
The Heat suspended Green for two games for detrimental conduct. The police report stated Green punched someone after collapsing in the valet area outside his apartment building. Before collapsing, Green showed up to the front desk with bloody hands, according to the report.
The guard returned to practice Saturday.
“First off, I want to go ahead and say I’m deeply sorry. I want to apologize to the Miami Heat organization. I want to apologize to my family. And most important, I want to apologize to my fans for not being available for the games that I missed,” Green told reporters after practice. “I’m deeply saddened for what happened. But I’m ready to move on from it. I’m glad that the Miami Heat organization had my back and I’m ready to move on from it.”

Green has played in three games this season, missing four before his two-game suspension. He is averaging 10.3 points per game on 41% shooting from three.
