Anthony Davis suffers lower back contusion while tumbling into crowd

New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis suffered a lower back contusion tumbling into the crowd against the Indiana Pacers

New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis left Friday night’s 91–86 home loss against the Indiana Pacers due to a lower back contusion. The Pelicans ruled the All-Star forward out after originally listing him as questionable.

Davis sustained the injury early in the first quarter while tumbling over the first row in pursuit of a defensive rebound. He stayed in the game for a few possessions before ultimately returning to the locker room.

Davis recently went to the locker room on Dec. 28 after taking a knee to the groin against the Orlando Magic, but was ultimately able to return. He missed the second and third quarters of the Pelicans’ Dec. 20 matchup vs. the Nuggets due to an illness.
