Derrick Rose says he wants to remain with Bulls for entire career
Derrick Rose says he wants to remain with the Chicago Bulls for his entire career, he told ESPN's Nick Friedell.
Rose, who has played his entire eight–year career with the Bulls, is set to become a free agent in 2017.
Friedell asked Rose if he still wanted to finish his career in Chicago.
“That's still true. Still true. Just having my son [P.J.], I'm doing all this because of my son now, you know? Just wanting to be around him every day, having him come up here, shoot with me or see me shooting til he's able to become a ball boy. Little things like that I think about long term,” Rose said, according to ESPN. “Just trying to get him groomed, trying to get him used to being in the environment.”
The Bulls selected Rose with the No. 1 pick in the 2008 draft out of Memphis. He missed just one game in his first three seasons and was selected to the All–Star team in three of his first four years.

In 2011, he was named the NBA's Most Valuable Player after averaging 25 points per game and leading the Bulls to the best record in the NBA (62-20) and an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Rose's body failed him the next year, when he tore his ACL in the playoffs and proceeded to miss the entire 2012-13 season. Since then, he has been plagued by other knee and ankle injuries.
Rose is averaging 14.9 points per game in 31 contests this season. Under his current contract, he is due $20 million this year and $21 million next year.
