Bucks coach Jason Kidd will return to the sidelines next week after missing time with a hip injury, he announced.

Kidd will return to coaching Monday before the Bucks host the Magic on Tuesday. The Bucks are 19–25 and have won five of their last seven games with assistant Joe Prunty handling the coaching duties.

“I feel great after surgery and am looking forward to getting back on the sidelines full time next week,” Kidd said in a statement. “I received a good report from my doctor last week in New York and I am ahead of schedule on my recovery. Provided everything continues to go well this week, I plan on being back to my normal duties on Monday.

“Joe (Prunty) and the rest of the coaching staff along with the players have done a very good job in my absence and I’m grateful for all of their efforts. We’re all looking forward to continued improvement during the second half of our season.”

Kidd, 42, has been out since having hip surgery before Christmas after a deteriorating, chronic condition from his playing career made coaching through the pain too difficult. He coached the Bucks to an 11–18 mark through 29 games.

Milwaukee has gone 8–7 under Prunty, and travels next to face the Houston Rockets on Friday night and the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.
