Cavaliers hire Mike Longabardi as assistant coach

Mike Longabardi has been hired as an assistant coach to Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue, the team announced.

Longabardi was most recently a member of the Phoenix Suns as an assistant. He also served as an assistant to Doc Rivers with the Boston Celtics. Lue was also a member of Rivers' staff. With Boston, the team reached three Eastern Conference Finals and two NBA finals including the 2088 NBA title.

Before arriving in Boston, Longabardi was a member of the Houston Rockets' staff under Jeff Van Gundy.

The Cavaliers are 1–1 under Lue as head coach after the team fired David Blatt on Friday. Cleveland will host the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night.
