The Minnesota Timberwolves and Kevin Martin have agreed to a contract buyout, making the veteran guard a free agent, the team announced Wednesday.

Martin thanked the Timberwolves for providing “first-class treatment” during his time in Minnesota in a release sent out after the deal was completed, just before the midnight ET deadline on Tuesday.

Martin, 33, is averaging 10.6 points per game and is now eligible to join a playoff team for the stretch run. ESPN’s Marc Stein reports the Spurs are the strongest contenders to sign him, while ESPN’s Tim MacMahon has reported the Cavs, Heat, Hawks and Thunder are also vying for Martin’s services.
