Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich will not be with the team for the next two games due to a family medical situation, the team announced Monday.
Popovich was not with the team Monday night for its game against the Pacers, and will also miss San Antonio’s Tuesday game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The team did not provide details about the situation.
Assistant coach Ettore Messina will be the Spurs’ acting head coach in Popovich’s absence.
The Spurs entered Monday in second place in the NBA at 53–9. Popovich is expected to return Thursday for a matchup with the Bulls.
