Curry outduels Lillard, Warriors rout Blazers to continue chase for 73

Damian Lillard dropped 38 points. C.J. McCollum scored 18. Moe Harkless recorded a double double. It simply did not matter.
The Warriors would not be stopped on Sunday night. They blew past the Trail Blazers 136–111 at Oracle Arena, improving to 69–8 and drawing closer to the Chicago Bulls’ record of 72 wins.

Curry outdueled Lillard with 39 points in a point-guard battle that lived up to its billing. During one stretch of a little more than two minutes in the third, Curry scored on five straight possessions, hitting four threes. Lillard answered each one of those buckets.
Curry also fittingly hit the Warriors’ 1,000th three-pointer this season. The reigning MVP hit nine threes on Sunday and increased his NBA-record season total to 378.

Draymond Green recorded his 13th triple double with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists and Klay Thompson poured in 22 points. Golden State, coming off an overtime loss against the Boston Celtics on Friday, improved to 8–0 following a loss this season.
The Warriors need four wins in their last five games to reach 73 wins. They will host Minnesota on Tuesday, and play home-and-home games against San Antonio and Memphis.
