Memphis Grizzlies forward Matt Barnes is looking forward to the chance to play the spoiler of the Golden State Warriors’ attempt to set a new NBA wins record on Wednesday night, he told ESPN.

“They’re chasing history,” Barnes said Wednesday. “We have a chance to interrupt history. Playing in Golden State, I know how alive that crowd is going to be, and I’m going to be very excited to be part of that game.”

WOO: Warriors on the verge of history in matchup with Grizzlies

The Warriors (72–9) beat the Grizzlies (42–39) in all three of their previous matchups this season, including a close 100–99 victory on Saturday.

Coach David Joerger said after Memphis’ 110–84 loss to the Clippers on Tuesday that he was also excited about facing the Warriors in the final game of the season.

“It’s for history, baby,” Joerger said. “We’re going to give it our best shot.

“[We’ve] got a chance to be the answer on every Trivial Pursuit card for the next 75 years. We’ll see what we're going to do with that tomorrow.”

Memphis has already clinched a playoff spot.

Wednesday’s game will tip off at 10:30 p.m. ET at Oracle Arena.
