The Minnesota Timberwolves will conduct a coaching search this off-season that will include interim Sam Mitchell, and free agents Jeff Van Gundy, Tom Thibodeau and Scott Brooks, The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Mitchell took over on an interim basis for the late Flip Saunders after his passing in October, and led the Timberwolves to a 28–53 record entering their final game on Wednesday.

Van Gundy has not coached since he was fired by the Rockets in 2007, while Thibodeau and Brooks were fired in 2015 by the Bulls and Thunder, respectively.

According to Wojnarowski, team owner Glen Taylor is gauging the potential of giving the team’s new head coach total autonomy, allowing them to build the front office.

Minnesota possesses a core of young talent with recent No. 1 picks Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, in addition to guard Zach LaVine, the No. 13 pick in 2014.
