NBA draft lottery: Odds, teams and pick order
The NBA Draft Lottery will be held on Tuesday night in New York City as the upcoming draft order will be determined.
Ben Simmons of LSU and Brandon Ingram of Duke await as the potential top two picks in the draft for whichever teams are selecting first and second.
All teams that miss the NBA playoffs are eligible for the lottery. Teams that finish with worse records have a better chance at landing a top three pick because they have more ping pong balls entered in the lottery.
The top three picks are selected with a ping pong ball. Picks four to 14 are then selected by record. Coin flips will settle who picks between two teams that finish with the same record. Playoff teams end up with picks 15 to 30 and are placed by record.
The Sacramento Kings and the Toronto Raptors can not receive the No.1 overall pick due to trades involving swapping rights. If the Raptors' selection wins the lottery, the pick will be sent to the Denver Nuggets as part of a series of trades involving those two respective teams and the New York Knicks. If the Kings' selection finishes ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers pick, the two teams will swap draft pick spots.
If the Lakers fall out of the top-three draft picks, they will lose their selection to Philadelphia.
