Los Angeles Lakers co-owner Jeanie Buss says that her fiancée and New York Knicks president Phil Jackson has no plans on making a return to the Lakers any time soon, according to Ramona Shelburne.

“To visit, yes...but in terms of basketball, he’s committed to New York for many years,” Buss said. “He’s building something there. He has a mission, he’s on that journey to get the team back to where he believes it can be and it will be. He’s a former Knick...he loves New York, he loves the fans, he wants to make them proud.

“In terms of the Lakers, we have a front office. They’re putting together a team...they have a vision. I’m excited to see what the future holds for us.”

Jackson was hired by the Knicks in March 2014. In the two season under his watch, the New York has finished 17–65 and 32–50. The team recently hired Jeff Hornacek to take over as the team’s head coach.

The Lakers are coming off the worst season in franchise history as they finished 17–65. Jackson led the Lakers to five NBA finals as head coach from 2000 to 2010.
