Thunder assistant coach Monty Williams will not return to the team next season, head coach Billy Donovan announced.
Williams was in his first season with Donovan’s staff. He took a leave of absence from the team after his wife, Ingrid, died in a February car accident at the age of 44.
Donovan says he will consult with his assistants before beginning the search for Williams’s replacement.
Williams was also a former head coach with the Pelicans and reached the playoffs in two of his five seasons with the team.
He may still serve as an assistant coach for the U.S. basketball team at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The Thunder were eliminated from the Western Conference finals in seven games by the Golden State Warriors.
