Van Gundy: O.J. Simpson slowed car chase to listen to NBA Finals

During the NBA Finals Game 4 broadcast, Jeff Van Gundy shared an incredible story of the O.J. Simpson white Bronco car chase in 1994 that may or not be true.
Van Gundy was an assistant for the New York Knicks in 1994 under head coach Pat Riley.
Riley spent time in Los Angeles when he may have encountered Al Cowlings, the driver of the car that took Simpson on a police chase. The Knicks were playing in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Houston Rockets, when the car chase was going on.

Cowlings told Riley why they were driving so slow.
“O.J. wanted to hear the end of the game on the radio before he pulled in,” Van Gundy said. “When coach Riley told us that story I was like mesmerized by like what really goes on. I could just see him having a gun to his head saying, ‘Turn up the radio, AC, so I can hear the last few minutes.”
