AP source: Courtney Lee goes to Knicks for $50M, 4 years

NEW YORK (AP) Courtney Lee has accepted a four-year contract offer worth about $50 million from the New York Knicks, a person with direct knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press on Saturday.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because nothing can be signed or finalized until July 7, when the NBA's offseason moratorium on player movement is lifted.

The Knicks will become the seventh team for the well-traveled Lee, who just finished his eighth NBA season. Lee averaged 9.6 points last season for Memphis and Charlotte, matching his career average.

Lee has also played for Orlando, New Jersey, Houston and Boston. He's also been to the playoffs five times, including each of the past four seasons.

The agreement was first reported by Basketball Insiders.

Lee becomes the third significant player addition so far in this offseason by the Knicks, who also have a new coach in Jeff Hornacek. New York traded for Derrick Rose late last month, then got Rose's former Chicago teammate, Joakim Noah, to agree to a $72 million, four-year deal on Friday.

The Knicks needed to fill their shooting guard slot again after Arron Afflalo, whom they signed last summer, opted to become a free agent. He agreed earlier Saturday to a $25 million, two-year deal with Sacramento, a person with knowledge of that deal told AP.

New York was 32-50 last season, yet a new presumed starting five of Rose, Lee, Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis and Noah - if healthy - should be able to improve that.
