Report: Dirk Nowitzki agrees to two-year, $40 million deal with Mavericks

Dirk Nowitzki has agreed to terms on a two-year contract worth $40 million to remain with the Mavericks, ESPN’s Mark Stein reports.
Nowitzki, 38, opted out of the final year of his contract, choosing to become an unrestricted free agent. He has played his entire 18-year career with the Mavs, leading Dallas to an NBA championship in 2011.
Nowitzki’s last contract was a three-year, $25 million deal, widely viewed as a discount rate. He had previously signed a four-year, $80 million deal in 2010.

Before he opted out of his contract, Nowitzki reportedly drew interest from the Warriors.
The Mavericks have also reportedly added Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut and Seth Curry this week.
