Jabari Parker offers support to Barack Obama after controversial tweet

Jabari Parker came to the defense of Barack Obama on Friday after former congressman and current radio host Joe Walsh tweeted what many viewed as a threat to the President after five Dallas police officers were murdered on Thursday night.
The Bucks forward was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago and swore to Walsh, a former congressman from Illinois’ eighth congressional district, that he and the rest of the city would protect the President after he tweeted “Watch out Obama. Real America is coming for you.”
Parker followed up the tweet with another message saying he does not support any violence and hopes that the current unrest will come to a peaceful resolution.
Friday also saw Knicks star Carmelo Anthony post a plea on Instagram for athletes to be more outspoken about injustices against the black community. This comes in addition to many athletes, such as LeBron James, sending their condolences and concern about the recent police shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, and the situation in Dallas.
Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki tweeted on Friday, “Still in shock. Saddened to hear about the tragic events in Dallas. My Thoughts are with everyone, who are affected. #StoptheViolence."
