The Philadelphia 76ers expect rookie guard Ben Simmons back from a foot injury in January, head coach Brett Brown told reporters on Friday.

“It’s not doom and gloom,” Brown said. “Ben is coming back in January. We are still trying to find information on Jerryd [Bayless]. Jahlil [Okafor] is still trying to touch the court in his first preseason game.”

Last month, Philadelphia announced that Simmons had suffered a fracture in his right foot that would require surgery.

The Sixers drafted Simmons with the No. 1 pick in June's NBA draft after one year at LSU. In his lone season for the Tigers, Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists and 2.0 steals.
