The reason? Kevin Durant.
President Obama will be out of office when the NBA crowns its next champion, but this week he made his title pick. No October surprise here: He's going with the Warriors.
Obama, a big basketball fan, cited Golden State's acquisition of Kevin Durant during the off–season as his reasoning.
“I’m going to go with the Warriors just because (Kevin) Durant, that addition, I think they have too much firepower,” Obama said. “Although they got spanked on their first game so it’ll take them awhile to figure stuff out.”
Golden State lost its opening game to the San Antonio Spurs, 129–100. The Warriors will face the Pelicans on Friday at 9:30 p.m. ET.
Obama also picked the Patriots to win the Super Bowl.
