Jay Z delivered a memorable speech while introducing LeBron James at SI’s Sportsperson of the Year awards show in Brooklyn on Monday, praising James for his work on and off the court as well has having a little fun at Phil Jackson’s expense.

James recently expressed displeasure that Jackson had referred to James’s friends as his “posse” and Jay Z took a couple of jabs at Jackson for the remark.

While introducing James before he accepted his award, Jay Z referenced the tiff by calling James “the friend who put his posse in position,” emphasizing the word posse while cracking a wry smile. (See the video above.)

Jay Z also praised LeBron for his ability to make those around him better.

When James traveled to New York last week to play Jackson’s Knicks, he said he had no plans to meet with Jackson

“Didn't affect me, just know how much further we still have to go and how far we still have to go as African-Americans, even in the light of today,” James said. “For me, I've built my career on and off the floor on the utmost respect and I've always given the utmost respect to everyone—all my peers, people that's laid the path for me and laid the path for coaches, players, things of that nature.”
