Spurs' Kawhi Leonard sprains left ankle and will be out for the rest of Game 1.

San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard headed to the locker room after spraining his left ankle in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

The Spurs announced Leonard would not return for the rest of the game.

In the third quarter, Zaza Pachulia of the Warriors placed his foot under Leonard while he was shooting. Leonard landed on Pachulia's foot and rolled his ankle.

The Warriors went on a 18–0 run since Leonard checked out of the game.

Leonard first injured the ankle in Game 5 of the semifinals against the Houston Rockets. He missed Game 6.

Leonard entered Sunday's game averaging 27.8 points and 7.7 rebounds in the playoffs.

Game 2 will be played on Tuesday.
