Anthony Davis Sprains Thumb in Lakers' Preseason Loss vs. Nets

Anthony Davis suffers thumb injury vs. Nets

Anthony Davis sprained his right thumb in the first half of the Lakers' preseason game against the Nets on Saturday, the team announced Saturday.

Davis appeared to tweak his thumb while going up to block a shot in the first quarter. He initially stayed in the game before leaving for the locker room, where his thumb was wrapped and iced. Davis was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, initial exams on Davis's thumb showed no ligament damage. He will undergo an MRI on Sunday.

Davis finished the game with six points on 2-for-7 shooting, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal in 12 minutes.

In two preseason games, he was averaging 19 points, six rebounds, 3.5 assists and a block in 22 minutes per game.

The Lakers will next face the Warriors on Monday at Staples  Center.
