Hawks PG Trae Young Exits vs. Heat With Apparent Ankle Injury


Hawks point guard Trae Young was ruled out for the game in the first half against Miami on Tuesday due to a right ankle sprain.
Young exited Atlanta's road matchup in the first quarter after turning his ankle while driving toward the rim. He was helped off the floor and taken to the Hawks' locker room.

X-Rays on Young's ankle were negative, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The Athletic's Shams Charania provided an update later in the evening, noted Young could miss two weeks with the ankle sprain.

Young entered Tuesday night following an impressive start to 2019-20. The second-year point guard averaged 34 points per game in Atlanta's first three contests along with nine assists, and he shot 52% from three.
The Oklahoma product led the Hawks to back-to-back wins to start the season. Young scored 38 points in an opening-night win over the Pistons on Oct. 24, and he scored 39 in a victory against Orlando on Oct. 26.
Young averaged 19.1 points and 8.1 assists as a rookie last season. Atlanta enters 2019-20 seeking their first playoff appearance since 2017.
