Andrew Wiggins to Return to Warriors This Week, per Report

After missing 22 games, Warriors wing Andrew Wiggins is nearing a return and is expected to play this week, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Wiggins missed the large chunk of time because his father, Mitchell, has been dealing with a serious medical situation, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

For Golden State, his return couldn’t have come at a better time with the regular season nearing an end. The Warriors (41–38) are currently the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference, but their playoff position is anything but safe.

Only two wins separate the No. 5 and No. 9 seeds as several squads are fighting to avoid the play-in tournament. Golden State, in particular, has struggled mightily on the road, going 9–30 away from San Francisco. For their last three games of the season, the Warriors will face the Thunder at home then the Kings and Trail Blazers on the road.

Before he stepped away from the team, Wiggins was averaging 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
