Kings Take Game 1 Against Warriors As Curry Misses Game-Tying Shot At Buzzer
The Sacramento Kings won their first playoff win since 2006, as Golden State’s Stephen Curry was unable to knock down the game-tying three-pointer as time expired. The Kings held on for a 126–123 victory, taking a 1–0 series edge in their first-round series against the defending NBA champions.
Curry, who scored a game-high 30 points, was able to get a clean look from the top of the arc, but his shot just rimmed off. Backcourt teammate Klay Thompson had a solid game scoring 21 points.
The Kings, playing before a raucous crowd, were led by De'Aaron Fox who poured in a game-high 38 points while dishing out five assists.
In a series, featuring two of the best guards in the NBA, matching up on both ends of the court - Fox got the best of Curry in the series opener.
The Kings will look to take preserve home-court advantage during Game 2 on Monday. The Warriors, who had a dreadful 11–30 record on the road this season, have been installed as one-point underdogs for that matchup.
