Kings’ De’Aaron Fox Suffers Broken Finger on Shooting Hand, per Report
Kings guard De’Aaron Fox broke the index finger on his shooting hand in the team’s 126–125 loss to the Warriors on Sunday, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Sacramento star is expected to be listed as doubtful for Game 5 of the Kings-Warriors first-round series, which is tied 2–2. Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET in Sacramento.
Fox is believed to have suffered the injury to his left index finger midway through the fourth quarter of Game 4, according to Charania. Nevertheless, Fox finished the game. Despite the doubtful designation Fox is expected to receive, the Kings still hope he will be able to play in Game 5 wearing a protective cover on the injured finger, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Fox, playing in his sixth NBA season, earned his first All-Star selection this year. He averaged 25.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game in 73 appearances during the 2022–23 regular season. Last week, he was named the first winner of the league’s new Jerry West Clutch Player of the Year Award.
Fox has been even better in the postseason, averaging 31.5 points, six rebounds and seven assists through four games. Unfortunately for the Kings, their star guard’s availability for the pivotal Game 5 is now in question.
