James Harden Uncertain for 76ers’ Opener After Another Practice Absence, per Report

James Harden’s status for Thursday’s 76ers season opener against the Bucks in Milwaukee remains unknown as the guard did not appear at Monday’s practice, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Harden didn’t compete in any of Philadelphia’s four preseason games, and he wasn’t with the team Friday during its final preseason game of the year. He skipped some practices at the beginning of offseason workouts, but later joined the team at the beginning of October. On the heels of Monday’s absence, it’s unclear whether Harden will play on Thursday.

The star guard has had an eventful offseason after requesting a trade in June. He’s made it clear he wants to join the Clippers, but the two parties have been unable to reach an agreement.

Harden called team president Daryl Morey a “liar,” adding, “I will never be part of an organization that he’s a part of.” Harden subsequently stated that the relationship with Morey couldn’t be repaired in his opinion.
