LeBron James Gets Company From Pistons’ Breakout Youngster in NBA History Books

Pistons center Jalen Duren hasn’t disappointed through the first three games of his sophomore campaign.

Saturday, the 19-year-old registered his third consecutive double-double of the season and the 22nd of his NBA career, finishing with 23 points and 15 rebounds in the Pistons’ 118-102 victory against the Bulls. As a result, Duren joined some elite company, surpassing LeBron James for the third most double-double performances by a teenager in the NBA/ABA history. Only NBA legend Moses Malone (50) and former NBA star Dwight Howard (46) had more. 

Duren also attached his name with the Lakers’ star as the only two teenagers in league history to register 20 or more points, 15 or more rebounds and five or more assists in Saturday’s game. Through three games this season, Duren is averaging 18 points, a league-high 15.3 rebounds and four assists while shooting 80% from the floor.

Duren will have the opportunity to continue his hot start to the season when the Pistons (2-1) return to action on Monday in a road matchup against the Thunder.
