Draymond Green Ejected for Putting Rudy Gobert in a Headlock Before a Point Was Scored

It didn’t take long for tensions to boil over in San Francisco on Tuesday night with the Warriors hosting the Timberwolves.

Less than two minutes into the game, and before a single point was scored, a small scuffle erupted into a team-wide brawl.

The action started as the Warriors brought the ball up the court. Jaden McDaniels was marking Klay Thompson as he worked down the floor. Thompson tried to push off a bit, McDaniels grabbed at his jersey and suddenly arms were swinging.

Almost immediately as the fray began to break out, Draymond Green went to Rudy Gobert and put him in a headlock.

Thompson’s jersey wound up torn, and replays showed how the tit-for-tat exchange between him and McDaniels started as soon as the ball went up on the other end of the court and Thompson worked for position for a potential rebound.

The replay also showed just how quickly Green got his arm around Gobert’s neck after the Timberwolves center had gone to break up the two.

McDaniels, Thompson, and Green were all ejected from the game, leaving the Warriors even more short-handed, having already been without Stephen Curry due to a knee sprain.

Green and Gobert had previously exchanged some heated words on social media back in April.
