Suns’ Bradley Beal Out Three Weeks Due to Back Injury

Suns guard Bradley Beal is poised to miss at least three weeks of action due to a lower back strain, the team announced Friday.

Beal, acquired from the Wizards in a blockbuster offseason trade, has played in just three of Phoenix’s first 11 games this season. He’s averaging 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game for the Suns.

Beal is a three-time All-Star whom the Suns were looking forward to teaming with superstars Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, but the trio has yet to appear together in a regular-season game.

Beal hasn’t played in more than 60 games during a season since the 2018-19 campaign with Washington. He averaged 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 50 games with the Wizards last season.

Beal had been listed as probable for Wednesday’s game against the Timberwolves, but he wound up being held out of the contest. The Suns said Beal will be re-evaluated in three weeks, a timeline that would require him to miss the team’s next nine games.

Phoenix (5–6) plays at the Jazz (4–7) at 10 p.m. ET on Friday night.
