Surprise Jazz Player Listed With LeBron James As Most-Searched NBA Athlete by State

Basketball Reference released its annual recap Tuesday, posting several maps depicting what NBA fans are searching on the site.

Unsurprisingly, Lakers superstar LeBron James was the most-viewed Basketball Reference page in 41 of 50 states. 

Former NBA MVPs Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic led eight states, including Wisconsin and Colorado, where they currently reside.

The other state? Utah, which searched for Jazz center Lauri Markkanen more often than any other athlete.

Markkanen is no slouch, as he was named an NBA All-Star last season while averaging 25.6 points and 8.6 rebounds in his first season with the Jazz. 

But he hasn’t quite reached the status of James, Antetokounmpo and Jokic, who have six NBA championships and eight MVP trophies between them.

The loyalty of Jazz fans can’t be questioned based on these results.
