Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young has now faced San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama twice on the floor, and Young believes the No. 1 pick is all that he’s hyped up to be.

In fact, Young admitted that he thinks the 20-year-old could become the “best player ever” if he reaches various milestones throughout his NBA career.

“He’s gonna be a beast in this league as long as he can play,” Young said on the From the Point podcast. “His presence on the floor alone is impactful, and just on defense, offense, he can do pretty much everything. ... He has all the intangibles to be the best player ever. The accolades and team accolades as his career goes on is what’s gonna determine that.”

The two NBA stars faced each other on Monday, resulting in a 109–99 Hawks win. Young and Wembanyama led their teams by points, scoring 36 and 26, respectively. The Frenchman also had 13 rebounds and five blocks, while Young had 13 assists and six rebounds.
