The Philadelphia 76ers likely will be without star center Joel Embiid for an extended amount of time.

Embiid suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee, according to a report from The Athletic’s Shams Charania on Thursday. Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Embiid will be out “through the weekend” while the team’s medical staff determines a path forward for treatment.

Charania later reported that 76ers officials have not officially confirmed a tear in Embiid's meniscus.

It is unclear how much time Embiid will miss.

In 34 games this season, Embiid is averaging a league-high 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game. He steered the 76ers to a 29–17 record through 46 contests, good for fifth in the Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia returns to the floor Thursday to battle the Utah Jazz at Delta Center.
