NBA Insider Offers Joel Embiid’s Timeline to Return to 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers were dealt a devastating blow on Thursday when their superstar center, Joel Embiid, was revealed to have torn the meniscus in his left knee.

For days now, 76ers fans have been holding their breath waiting for a recovery timeline. Now, they have it.

Embiid will most likely be out for six to eight weeks, according to a Tuesday afternoon report from Shams Charania of The Athletic.

"I'm told it's likely going to be anywhere between six to eight weeks for any type of a return," Charania said on the Takeoff with John Clark podcast. "At the end of the day, his rehab, his recovery, that's gonna play the biggest role in terms of a timetable."

Embiid has been one of the best players in the league this season, averaging a career-high 35.3 points per game in 34 games played. Philadelphia, meanwhile, is 30-19—fifth in a crowded Eastern Conference race.

A six to eight week absence would put Embiid's return anywhere from March 20 against the Phoenix Suns to April 2 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 76ers’ final regular-season game is scheduled for April 14 against the Brooklyn Nets.

"There's no doubt in my mind, knowing Joel Embiid and the way his mentality has been throughout his career, that he's going to attack this," Charania said.
