Kobe Bryant Video Tribute Narrated by Shaq Is Best Thing You’ll See Today

It was only fitting that Shaquille O’Neal narrated NBA on TNT’s tribute video to Kobe Bryant ahead of Bryant’s statue unveiling ceremony on Thursday.

Bryant, who will be the seventh Los Angeles Lakers legend immortalized in bronze, teamed up with O’Neal to produce some of the most dominant years of the Lakers dynasty at the start of the century. Together, Bryant and O’Neal won three consecutive championships from 2000 to 2002; Bryant would win two more after O’Neal got traded to the Miami Heat.

Hours before Bryant’s statue unveiling, Shaq narrated a touching tribute video to the Lakers icon who tragically passed away in 2020, calling Bryant “the most competitive player I’ve ever seen and the best teammate I ever had.”

Take a look.

At 6 p.m. ET outside Crypto.com Arena, Bryant’s likeness will join sculptures honoring O’Neal, Elgin Baylor, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Jerry West and Chick Hearn.

In addition to the statue reveal, the Lakers will wear Kobe-inspired Black Mamba uniforms in Thursday’s game against the Denver Nuggets.
