Charles Barkley Had to Troll Shaq While Congratulating Him for Magic Jersey Retirement

Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley have become not only one of the best duos in sports media, but also seem to be the best of friends. To wit, they often take comical aim at each other, with hilarious results.

In order to congratulate O’Neal for having his No. 32 jersey retired Tuesday night by the Orlando Magic, Barkley was asked to record a video message for the big man. Naturally, he had to take a shot at his Inside the NBA coworker.

“Congratulations!” Barkley said. “Wait a minute, is this the Lakers, Cleveland, Miami, Suns or Boston, Kenny [Smith]? Jersey retirement—oh my bad—Orlando Magic.”

Barkley was poking fun at the fact that O’Neal not only played for the Magic, but he also suited up for the Los Angeles LakersMiami HeatPhoenix SunsCleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. But after busting the four-time champ’s chops, Barkley gave him heartfelt congratulations.

“Hey, big, we love you, man,” he continued. “[It] couldn’t happen to a better guy. It’s well deserved. We’re proud of ya. It’s an honor and a privilege to work with you every week. We love you, and congratulations on the Magic retiring your jersey.”
