C.J. Stroud Says He Once Dropped 40 Points Against Miami Heat Star While in High School

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is set to feature in the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game on Friday during this weekend’s festivities at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.

Ahead of the showdown, Stroud made a guest appearance on Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons’s podcast, The Edge, and dropped an eye-opening revelation about his history in basketball.

Stroud, who attended Rancho Cucamonga High School in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., claims to have handily beaten a star player of the Miami Heat during his high school basketball playing days.

According to Stroud, he dropped 40 points against Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Adolfo Camarillo High School, and he even provided some video evidence.

Stroud identified Jaquez as being No. 24 on the opposing team in the brief video, and claimed that he put up 40 points in that game, though Parsons joked that it was actually a junior varsity game.

“You know who the star player on the Miami Heat is right now, other than Jimmy Butler? Jaime Jaquez. Played at UCLA. That game I scored 40 points was on him... Stop playin’ with me bro,” said Stroud.

“You see what I’m doing against NBA level talent?”

Of course, Stroud followed a different path and pursued football, culminating in him attending Ohio State and being selected as the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NFL draft before winning Rookie of the Year with the Houston Texans. Despite that, he exuded nothing but confidence when telling Parsons all about his past in basketball, and fans will be hoping he’ll put on a show at the Celebrity All-Star Game.
