Jimmy Butler Appears to Respond to Suspension With Three-Part Message

The NBA announced Sunday that it suspended Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler for one game due to his role in a benches-clearing brawl on Friday night.

Butler appeared to cleverly respond on social media within the hour.

The 34-year-old forward posted three screenshots of songs he listened to on Spotify after receiving the news. The playlist: “Locked Up” by Akon, “Jail” by Kanye West and “Life” by K-Ci and JoJo.

Well played, Butler.

Five players received a suspension from the fight in the fourth quarter of the Heat’s 106–95 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Butler, teammate Nikola Jović and Pelicans forward Naji Marshall received a one-game suspension, while Heat center Thomas Bryant and Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado were suspended three games.

Butler, Jović and Bryant will miss Miami’s matchup Monday against the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center.
