NBA Fans Were in Awe Over Celtics’ 52-Point Beatdown of Warriors

The Golden State Warriors entered play on Sunday as winners of six of their last seven games, but their hopes of continuing that strong run of form were quickly dashed against the Boston Celtics, who dismantled them by 52 points, 140–88.

It was a birthday to remember for Jayson Tatum, as the Celtics broke out on a huge 50–11 run during the first half, turning what was once a 21–21 game in the first quarter into an 82–34 blowout come halftime.

Warriors star Stephen Curry had an uncharacteristically poor game, scoring just four points and shooting an abysmal 0-for-9 from three-point range. Moses Moody led Golden State’s starting lineup with 11 points and was the only starter to reach double digits in scoring. The Warriors shot just 17.1% from three-point range, while Boston buried 51% of their attempts from beyond the arc.

The blowout victory sees the Celtics improve their current winning streak to 11 games, as they handed the Warriors what was the fourth worst loss in franchise history, and their worst since 2021. As for Boston, it now stands alone as the only franchise in NBA history with three-plus 50-point wins in a single season.

NBA fans on social media showed no mercy for Golden State in the aftermath of the one-sided loss, firing off plenty of jokes on X.
