Warriors Bounce Back to Set NBA Record After 52-Point Loss
The Golden State Warriors suffered their worst loss in franchise history on Sunday when the they were throttled by 52 points at the hands of the Boston Celtics—but they bounced back with some dominance of their own.
The Warriors defeated the Milwaukee Bucks by 35 points Wednesday, making history in the process. The 125–90 win is the biggest by an NBA team in immediately following a loss of at least 50 points, according to Sportradar.
A fair amount of the blame for Golden State’s struggles this year could be placed on the team’s health, but that wasn’t an issue Wednesday. For the first time in three months, the team was finally healthy and demonstrated what it can do when all hands are on deck.
Milwaukee went into the matchup on a six-game winning streak but was immediately bombarded by the Warriors in an offensive onslaught that found the Bucks in a 20-point halftime deficit. In the end, Stephen Curry led all scorers with 29 points after making 10 of his 18 shot attempts in 31 minutes of action. Jonathan Kuminga also chipped in 20 points in the home win.
After the victory, the Warriors (33–28) are now in sole possession of the ninth seed in the Western Conference while the Bucks (41–22) remain in the No. 2 spot in the Eastern Conference.
