76ers Trade Rumors: Tobias Harris Still Garnering Interest

Over the past month, Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris has been a name popping up in trade rumors. Despite the team showing no desire to move him, teams are still monitoring his situation.

A few weeks ago, NBA insider Shams Charania stated that "a lot" of teams were keeping tabs on Harris. During a recent appearance on FanDuel TV, he cited one team in particular that has him in their sights. That being the Detroit Pistons. This now marks the second time this season the Pistons have been tied to Harris in rumors.

"The Piston do want a 4 man. In free agency they're gonna be active. They have 50 to 60 million in cap space next summer," Shams said. "I'm told some names to keep an eye on are Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, Tobias Harris, as well as Miles Bridges."

This report impacts the Sixers in two ways. For starters, it makes it clear the Pistons have a strong desire to bring in Harris. It also means they have one more team to worry about in the potential OG Anunoby sweepstakes. Since the James Harden trade, the Raptors forward has been closely connected to the Sixers as a possible trade target.

Harris, 31, has been with the Sixers since the 2019 season. In that time, he's become a pillar for the franchise as a veteran leader. Because of this, there has been no indication that the front office is looking to trade him before his contract ends this season.

Through 29 games this season, Harris is averaging 17.0 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 2.9 APG while shooting just under 38% from deep. He's been a key player for the Sixers as of late. After dropping a season-high 33 points against the Raptors on Friday, he followed that up with 27 points and six assists against the Miami Heat on Christmas Day and a 22-point performance against the Orlando Magic.
