Nick Nurse Attends Kai Jones' Debut With Sixers' G League Affiliate

The Sixers' head coach was courtside for the Blue Coats game on Friday night.

Following the Philadelphia 76ers loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night, the team flew home as they prepare for their match against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night.

Given that they have an off day, Nick Nurse made the trip down to Wilmington, Delaware, where he attended the Delaware Blue Coats match against the Birmingham Squadron, the G-League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Blue Coats match against the Squadron wasn't just any other match, as it featured all of the two-way players, something that hasn't happened in quite some time following Jeff Dowtin's two-way contract was made official.

Perhaps a bigger reason for the Sixers' head coach to appear on Friday night would be to get a better look at Kai Jones, who recently penned a ten-day contract with Philadelphia.

Jones featured in the match for 30 minutes, putting up 14 points, while being a significant source of boards for the Blue Coats, grabbing eight rebounds.

Elsewhere on the court, Ricky Council IV would end the night with 23 points on 53 percent shooting. Council has featured in 22 games for Philadelphia so far this season, more than any other of the two-way players.

Jeff Dowtin, who has been a big part of Nurse's plans as of late, played a significant role in Friday night's win as he dropped 21 points as well as dished out seven assists.

While his fellow two-way counterparts played a big role in the close match, Terquavion Smith played perhaps the biggest role of them all, scoring a team-high 26 points, which includes five makes from beyond the arch.

For Nurse, he'll return to his regular coaching duties on Saturday night, when the Sixers will take on the Charlotte Hornets, as they look to snap a two-game losing streak.
