76ers: How to Watch Tyrese Maxey’s NBA All-Star Skills Challenge

In this story:
On Saturday night, Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is set to compete in the NBA’s 2024 Skills Challenge for the first time in his career.
The challenge kicks off Saturday’s festivities, which include the 3-Point Contest and the Dunk Contest. Last season, the Sixers’ lone representative was Mac McClung, who battled it out in the Dunk Contest and took home the hardware with a nearly perfect performance.
This season, the Sixers look forward to seeing what their former first-round pick can do in the Skills Challenge on the eve of his first All-Star game appearance.
How It Works
The Skills Challenge holds five different categories of competitions. Each player involved is broken up into three teams.
Maxey joins Team All-Stars, which features Toronto Raptors’ Scottie Barnes and Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young.
Team Top Picks features Orlando Magic’s Paolo Banchero, Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards, and San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama.
Lastly, Team Pacers has Tyrese Haliburton, Benedict Mathurin, and Myles Turner.
Every player involved will complete a course for round one, which involves an outlet pass at a moving target, dribbling downcourt through moving pylons, a short shot in the lane, a left corner three-pointer, and dribbling back to the opposite side to make any type of shot.
Round two is about team passing. Players will attempt outlet passes, bounce passes, and chest passes with moving targets.
Round three will be about team shooting. Players will attempt shots from five spots on the floor. The types of shots include a ten-footer outside of the lane, left elbow extended, top of the key, left corner three, and right slot deep three.
The first and second rounds are worth 100 points, while the third round is worth 200.
