Adams has spent a good amount of time in the NBA with the LA Clippers and Sixers under Doc Rivers. When Nick Nurse was brought in to replace Rivers, Adams accepted a heading coaching position in a professional league in Taiwan. Per Woj, Adams is expected to join Williams and the Pistons on their current road trip.
The Pistons make this change fresh off ending their historic losing streak. On Saturday night, Detroit took down a shorthanded Toronto Raptors team to secure their first win since October. The 28-game losing streak is now the longest single-season streak in NBA history.
Looking at their staff, Adams is not the only coach on the Pistons with connections to the Sixers. This position opened up because Dan Burke, another former assistant, has been away for personal reasons. Also, head coach Monty Williams had a brief stint in Philly. He was an assistant coach under Brett Brown for one season before taking a position to be head coach of the Phoenix Suns.
The Sixers and Pistons have almost completed their season series. They first squared off in November and then had a mini-series earlier this month. The Sixers won all three matchups in convincing fashion. These teams are slated to face off for a fourth and final time during the final week of the regular season on April 9th.
