76ers Playoff Watch: Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro Out Several Rounds

In this story:
The Miami Heat are dealing with unfortunate injury concerns in the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. After barely clinching a spot in the postseason with a win over the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Play-In Tournament to grab the eighth seed, the Heat picked up a first-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks.
During Game 1 of the seven-game series between the top-seeded Bucks and the last-seeded Heat, both teams suffered notable injuries. For Milwaukee, the MVP finalist Giannis Antetokounmpo took a hard fall and suffered a back injury, which forced him to miss most of Game 1.
For Miami, the veteran sharpshooter Tyler Herro went out with a hand injury late in the first half. Similar to Giannis, Herro was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
After the matchup, the Heat feared that Herro suffered a broken hand. It turns out that is the case. The Heat veteran confirmed on Tuesday that he would receive hand surgery on Friday, according to South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman.

As far as a timeline goes, Herro was notified that the NBA Finals would be the earliest round he could return to the court. Therefore, the chances of the Philadelphia 76ers or any other Eastern Conference team facing a full-strength Heat for the rest of the NBA Playoffs are zero.
Although Miami survived Game 1 with an upset victory over the Heat on Sunday, they face a tough road ahead as Herro is one of the team’s key players. The Herro-less Heat will take the floor in Milwaukee for Game 2 on Wednesday night. The Bucks are hopeful of getting Antetokounmpo back in the mix to avoid falling into an 0-2 hole.
Eastern Conference Bracket
1. Bucks vs. 8. Heat — Heat Lead 1-0
2. Celtics vs. 7. Hawks — Celtics Lead 1-0
3. Sixers vs. 6. Nets — Sixers Lead 2-0
4. Cavaliers vs. 5. Knicks — Knicks Lead 1-0
Next Up for 76ers:
The Philadelphia 76ers will visit the Brooklyn Nets for Game 3 on Thursday night.
