76ers Remain Without Key Starter vs. Miami Heat Wednesday

In this story:
After one more game on Wednesday night against the Miami Heat, the Philadelphia 76ers will be able to head into the NBA All-Star break and have several key players rest, recover, and hopefully, be healthy enough to return to the court next week.
You can count the Sixers’ starting forward, Tobias Harris, as one of those players, as he’s been dealing with a hip impingement this week.
On Monday night, the Sixers looked to conclude their two-game road trip with a matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. On the afternoon before the matchup, Harris was added to the injury report, with his playing status downgraded to questionable.
After being considered a game-time decision, Harris was ruled out officially before the Sixers tipped off against the Cavs. With that, he missed his first game since February 3.
Will Harris Face the Miami Heat?
Unfortunately, Harris will miss consecutive games for the first time this month. With the Miami Heat in South Philly to take on the 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center, Harris was ruled out early as he continues to deal with a hip-related setback.
Following Monday’s outing in Cleveland, 76ers head coach Nick Nurse described himself as “surprised” to see Harris dealing with a sudden setback. While he was under the impression that Harris was simply dealing with some soreness in his hip, Nurse didn’t have any definitive updates on the veteran at the time.
Fortunately, Harris reportedly returned to the practice court on Tuesday morning when the Sixers returned home from Cleveland. However, that doesn’t mean he’s ready to face the Heat on Wednesday.
Barring any official updates, it’s easy to assume that the Sixers are remaining cautious with Harris as they head into a seven-day break. As a way to avoid risking further injury, they are going to hold him out, offering an extra day of rest. Then, the Sixers will re-visit his status next Wednesday when they take on the New York Knicks.
