Lately, the Philadelphia 76ers haven’t received much luck in the health department. As expected, they’ll remain shorthanded against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, but there is a possibility they could get a veteran reinforcement in Cam Payne.

As the Sixers approached their Sunday afternoon game against the Dallas Mavericks over the weekend, they anticipated having Payne on board. Unfortunately, not long before the game tipped off, Payne was downgraded on the injury report.

Dealing with an illness, Payne was questionable to face the Mavs. Shortly after getting added to the report, the Sixers ruled him out.

Heading into Tuesday’s game, the Sixers have Payne listed as questionable on the injury report, leaving him as a potential game-time decision.

Last month, Payne joined the Sixers at the trade deadline. In the deal that sent Patrick Beverley packing to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Sixers landed Payne along with draft compensation in exchange for their offseason acquisition.

On February 9, Payne made his Sixers debut with a 35-minute shift with the starting lineup. Being that the Sixers were battling multiple key injuries, along with having several players shipped out, there was plenty of plenty of playing time for Payne off the bat.

As the team gets healthier, Payne’s role has changed. Despite the decreased minutes, Payne embraces the role he’s been assigned. Although he could miss consecutive games for the first time since he joined the 76ers, Payne isn’t expected to be out for long if he doesn’t return as early as Tuesday night in Brooklyn.
